COVID-19 pandemic is influencing not only our day-to-day life, but also the way we travel and the way we provide tours during your vacation.

On October 1st 2020 the country of Belize has re-opened the international airport for international leisure travel within the tourism safe corridor. With the re-opening Belize has put in place new rules and regulations with respect to safety procedures of tours, accommodation and also with respect to actual entry of tourists and guests to the country. To meet the new health and safety challenges and expectations presented by COVID-19, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has also launched Tourism Gold Standard program for tour operators and accommodation providers alongside Belize’s national tourism guidelines.

The three key strategies that we, as tour operators, have to follow are:

  1. Adjusting Business Operations to meet Social Distancing, Sanitary and Protective Gear Measures, while at the same time maintaining quality guest experience and business viability.
  2. Enhancing Cleaning and Sanitization Procedure to minimize virus transmission through high contact surfaces, person-to-person contacts, etc.
  3. Promoting and supporting health screening of staff and guests, in which measures support contact tracing, quarantining and early detection.

With respect to the above mentioned strategies and with respect to Tourism Gold Standard Program requirements we have updated our way of doing business and our operating procedures, in order to minimize the risks to tourists and also to ourselves. The key changes to our operating procedures are increased cleaning and disinfection of all premises and equipment, incorporation of social distancing protocols in the reservation and check-in processes, emergency and response plan and guests and staff health monitoring.
